The Best Decluttering Ideas to Clean Out Your Overstuffed Home

Are you too overwhelmed and embarrassed to have anybody over? Is clutter taking over your home and life? Here are some great decluttering ideas to help you create and maintain a clutter-free home.

Clutter is a huge problem for a lot of people and comes at a pretty high cost in a lot of ways. According to NBC News, one in four Americans admits that they have a clutter problem.1

Think about that for a minute. In 2020, the U.S. population was around 331 million. One in four Americans equates to a staggering 82.75 million people in the U.S. that have a clutter problem.

You don’t have to look very hard to figure out why. Combine the lighting fast accessibility of online shopping and the sizeable 2500 square feet of the average American home, and you have your answer.

Those are just a few of the startling statistics about clutter. However, I’m hoping they were enough to get your attention and make you ask yourself if you need to start decluttering.

What Does ‘Decluttering’ Mean?

Decluttering means the intentional act of identifying and removing items that are no longer useful or necessary.

It’s a little more involved than just tidying up and putting things away, but a lot less involved than adopting a minimalist lifestyle.

It’s about letting go and getting rid of the things that don’t serve you in a positive way. It involves physically removing those items from your home so they aren’t likely to resurface again.
